LEGO app for iphone

// January 13th, 2010 // No Comments » // Blog, mobile posts

I just grabbed the new (free) iPhone app from LEGO today, and is it ever cool!

What a great way to extend a brand that has nothing to do with mobility to a smartphone. This is a great example of how to leverage the best features of your product on a platform that enables you to do so.

If the goal if this app is to a) remind me how cool a toy Lego is and b) to keep some mindshare in a market of increasingly complex gadgets – well then mission accmplished!

Good work LEGO!

MotherApp – iPhone apps from blogs

Check this out: http://www.motherapp.com. This is a service that creates native iphone applications from your existing blog. I have started the process to see how this works to create an app for leemcarthur.ca. Could be cool. Puts the pressure on to write good content, all the time.

iSteak – cook steaks like a pro

// December 25th, 2009 // 5 Comments » // food, mobile posts

I had to cook steaks for 7 last night for Christmas eve dinner, and the porch I was on wasn’t very well lit. I’m not the best BBQ chef in the best of conditions so I was a little concerned that I might turn the steaks into hockey pucks.

It got me to wondering if I could cook by time instead of by sight? How long for medium v.s. medium rare, etc…

It wasn’t long before I wondered if “there was an app for that” for my iPhone, and began surfing through iTunes. Sure enough, I stumbled across iSteak, an app that claims to be able to help you manage all kinds of different steaks (by cut, thickness, etc) and help you cook them to perfection.

I entered in everyones order, by name, and by how they wanted their steak, and started the timer.

An alarm rang for each steak for when to flip it, and when to remove the steak.
End result? 7 perfectly cooked steaks!

The best part of the app is that it allows you to continue doing whatever else it was you wanted to be doing, instead of standing over a smoking BBQ.

5/5!

Kelowna, the canadian napa

“silicon vineyard” is a pretty great spot to visit.

We checked out grey monk, cedar creek, st Hubert, mission hill, quails gate, and summer hill – all in two days.

Also with big white and silverstar around an hour away for skiing, kelowna is a pretty great spot to hangout even in the winter.

First post from my iphone!

Not sure if I will ever be needing to post from my iPhone, but I guess it is nice to know I can …

This site is also formatted for mobile in that if you visit from a cell phone it should auto display it in a way that’s much easier to read.
